I’d like to add reading to follow an unexpected path. Tiziano Terzani’s A Fortune Teller Told Me led me to Somerset Maugham’s A Gentleman in the Parlour. And then on and on. BTW, if you haven’t read either, start with Terzani’s wonderful book. You’ll relate deeply, as I did.
Lastly, if you have Chatwin’s Anatomy of Restlessness, I’d love to borrow it. I’ve enjoyed every episode of Sophy Robert’s Gone to Timbuktu podcast (another to check out) and she took her title from his essay.
